The governor disclosed this in a post via his X account formally known as Twitter on Friday.
He said the procurement of the rice is funded from the ₦2 billion Palliatives Funds released by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“In my capacity as the Governor of Katsina State, I have directed the immediate distribution of 40,000 bags of rice procured by the State Government. The ₦2 billion Palliatives Funds released by the Federal Government of Nigeria were used in purchasing the rice,” he said.
Recalled President Bola Tinubu promised the state governments that, among other things, his administration would give the manufacturing sector N75 billion between July 2023 and March 2024 to help mitigate the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies.

On his part, speaking on how he aims to use his N2 billion FG grant, Mr Radda said he had also approved the formation of a committee that would be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and distribution of the rice.
He also issued a stern warning that any individual found wanting by misusing public trust during the distribution exercise would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“Furthermore, I have also approved the formation of distribution committees at the Local Government and Ward levels. Likewise, I have set up a strong monitoring committee to supervise the distribution processes.
“It’s worth noting that anybody found wanting by misusing public trust during the distribution exercise, directly or indirectly, will face the full wrath of the law.” He added.
