The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, will meet with the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday.
This is part of efforts to resolve the lingering disagreement between Atiku and Wike after the latter failed to clinch the PDP ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
“The PDP presidential candidate headed for London today after arriving in Paris yesterday. He is billed to meet with Wike tomorrow in an attempt to resolve the issues between them,” a source told TheCable.
This is even as media reports have alleged that Wike is billed to meet with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in London.
According to sources close to Wike, the Rivers state governor is demanding the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Wike accused Ayu and PDP governors in the Southern region of betraying him at the primary election.
Atiku’s choice of Delta governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as running mate, is said to have irked the governor.
The lingering disagreement between both men has been a source of concern to members and supporters of the PDP.Z
