In the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commision for the governorship polls so far, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have emerged winners in four Northern states
Deputy Governor Umar Namadi of the APC was declared winner of the governorship polls for Jigawa state while Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was re-elected into office in Gombe state.

Mai Mala Buni was also announced as the winner of the Yobe state governorship election under the ruling party.
Buni scored 317,113 to defeat his closest rival, Sheriff Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 104,259.
In Katsina state, Dikko Radda of the APC was officially declared governor-elect after scoring 859,892 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Senator Yakubu Danmarke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled a total of 486,620 votes.
In Kano, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Abba Kabir has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
Kabir scored 1,019,700 votes against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Gawuna, who garnered 890,705 votes.
