A member of the National Executive Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chinemerem Madu, has revealed plans to scuttle Atiku Abubakar’s chances in the 2023 presidential election.
According to Madu, there are plans to bribe the vice chairman of the PDP and some NEC members for them to address a press conference against Atiku and Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman.
In a statement seen by News.ng, Madu alleged that the national vice chairman had confessed to being “heavily bankrolled” to demand Ayu’s resignation at the press conference.
“This national vice chairman and his cohorts, who confessed to have been heavily bankrolled, are approaching and offering members of NEC sums ranging from N25 million to N28 million each to address a damaging press conference with fabrications aimed at derailing the presidential campaign,” Madu said.
“The said national vice chairman had approached me personally as a member of NEC to inform me of plots to orchestrate a heavily funded press conference to be addressed by select NEC members seemingly calling for the resignation of the National Chairman, Sen. Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, but actually targeted at frustrating the Atiku Abubakar presidential bid.”
Madu noted that several damaging claims, assertions, and allusions designed to trigger confusion within the party would be thrown up during the planned press conference.
He advised Nigerians to disregard any press conference by the national vice chairman of the PDP after the inauguration of Atiku’s presidential campaign council.
