South African striker Percy Tau has declared that no one should expect him to score against the Super Eagles on Friday during the 2026 World Cup qualifying game.
Tau, who was speaking ahead of the game set to be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, said that the fact that he scored in the last game is not a guarantee that he will do the same on Friday.
The Al Ahly of Egypt star noted that every game is a new game, and Bafana Bafana will approach it as it comes but what is important is to play as a team.
“Yeah, I scored that time, which is good for me and the team but that’s no reason to expect I must score on Friday,” Tau responded to a question.
“What’s important is for the team to play well and whoever scores is good for us.

“Every game is a new game, and we approach it as it comes. But if I get the chance [to score], why not”.
Leicester City and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi suggested that South Africa will seek revenge in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Ndidi, in a conversation with NFF TV, mentioned that the Super Eagles expect a tough game against South Africa.
“They’ll come for revenge, and for us as a team, we know that we are actually expecting that because it’s not going to be an easy game. When they look back and know the fact that we actually knocked them out in the semifinal.” The player said.
