President Muhammadu Buhari is set to commission six legacy projects before leaving office on Monday, May 29, 2023.

The outgoing president is known for investing heavily in infrastructural development across the country since he came into office in 2023.

To underscore his determination to improve Nigeria’s infrastructure, in 2021, Buhari approved the launch of the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) by approving its initial seed capital of N1 trillion.

InfraCorp is a privately-managed investment, infrastructure, and industrial vehicle promoted by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Africa Finance Corporation, and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority.

Buhari’s government has also taken advantage of the Nigeria Infrastructure Fund domiciled in the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority.

The fund focuses entirely on domestic investments in specific Nigerian economic sectors, including motorways, healthcare, power, and agriculture.

The seven legacy projects Buhari will commission this week are:

1). 2nd Niger Bridge: The N336 billion legacy project will be commissioned alongside six other road projects by the president via zoom.

2). Loko-Oweto Bridge: The bridge is across River Benue to link Benue to Nasarawa state and

3). Ikom Bridge: The bridge located in Cross River state is Sukuk-financed. The Sukuk is a strategic endeavour to boost infrastructure development, encourage financial inclusion, and expand Nigeria’s domestic securities market.

4). Kano-Kaduna dual carriage expressway: It is a very important carriageway that connects other parts of Nigeria to the north. It cuts through FCT, Niger, Kaduna, and Kano states. The carriageway is 375.9km long with three sections.

5). The 5.106-hectare Federal Secretariat Awka situated in the Executive Business District Layout of Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra state
