In response to the recent ruling by the Appeal Court, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and his party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have announced intentions to appeal to the Supreme Court.
The decision comes after thorough scrutiny and extensive engagement with stakeholders to address what they perceive as a miscarriage of justice.
Governor Yusuf conveyed confidence in the Supreme Court’s capacity to rectify what he termed as miscarriages of justice upheld by both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court. Expressing optimism and relying on divine intervention, he appealed to the Supreme Court to restore their mandate, which he claims was given by the people of Kano State.
Assuring the populace of their safety, Governor Yusuf emphasized that adequate measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property, stressing that it remains a primary responsibility of the administration.
According to the governor, the setback faced in the courts will not impede the government’s commitment to ongoing projects and programs aimed at revitalizing the state. He promised to initiate additional initiatives to deliver democratic dividends to the citizens and residents of Kano.
”This temporary setback will not deter our administration from its commitment to continue with laudable projects and programmes targeted at restoring the lost glory of the state.
”We are rolling out more initiatives to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizens and residents of Kano state.
”Finally, I call on the good people of the state and other well-meaning Nigerians to continue to pray for Allah’s mercy and protection to save the state from the injustice of mischief makers, who are desperately scheming to hijack power through the back door and return the state to the dark ages,” the governor said.
