A Lagos court has jailed a Nigerian actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin for trampling on the recently designed naira notes.
The actress’ detention in Kirikiri is pending the determination of her bail application following a case filed against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Monday, February 13, the anti-graft agency filed two charges against Omoseyin for allegedly spraying and trampling on the newly designed naira notes.

EFCC stated that the act is an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 21 (1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.
However, Omoseyin pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The agency’s legal representative asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the defendant be remanded in the appropriate correctional facility.
The judge then remanded the defendant to Kirikiri correctional facility pending a bail application set for February 15.
In another news, Nigerian singer Portable has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of gross incompetence.

He made accusation in an Instagram video when lamenting about the scarcity of fuel, the new naira notes, across the country.
Portable stated that the current scarcity of both essential commodities has brought difficulty on both the rich and the poor.
He described the Buhari regime as a rip-off.
