Super Eagles and Atalanta FC winger Ademola Lookman has reacted after being named the Best African International Footballer at the recently staged Ghana Football Awards in Accra.
Recall that following an incredible season with his Italian team and Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the former RB Leipzig midfielder was given this honour. Last season, Lookman helped Atalanta defeat Bayer Leverkusen and win the UEFA Europa League with a hat-trick.
He secured the title by surpassing both Edmund Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Victor Boniface. Lookman takes over for his countryman and forward Victor Osimhen of Napoli, who won the Serie A championship and the CAF Africa’s Best Player award last season.
While reacting to the award bestowed on him, Lookman thanked the award organisers for deeming him fit to win the accolade and thanked his fans for the votes.
He said; “Thank you for the consideration, the recognition, and the votes. This means a lot to me and my family. I wish I was in Ghana, but my heart is with you all. Thank you and God bless.”
