President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has showered praise on the Super Eagles following their emphatic 2–0 victory over Algeria at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, describing the performance as inspiring and worthy of national pride, news.ng reports.
Galatasaray’s talisman, Victor Osimhen, registered the first goal in the 47th minute, and ten minutes later, Akor Adams sealed the victory to book a semi-final slot for the Eagles.
In a post on X celebrating the triumph, the President applauded the team’s brilliance and resilience on the continental stage, urging them to continue representing the nation with confidence.
“Brilliant performance… Inspiring. Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians,” Tinubu declared, rallying the country behind the team as they push deeper into the tournament.
The victory, which secured Nigeria’s passage into the semi-finals of the competition, sparked an outpouring of commendation from prominent national figures, reflecting the unifying power of football across political and social divides.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the win, describing the night as one of collective pride.

A 2–0 victory that sends a clear message to the rest of the continent,” Obi stated.
