Ademola Lookman was named Man of the Match following his outstanding display in Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles sealed a place in the quarter-finals with a dominant Round of 16 win over the Mambas in Fès on Monday night, delivering one of their most complete performances of the tournament.
Lookman played a central role in the rout, scoring once and providing three assists to inspire Nigeria’s attacking display against Mozambique.
The Atalanta forward opened the scoring in the 20th minute after being set up by Akor Adams, before turning provider five minutes later with a well-weighted pass that allowed Victor Osimhen to double Nigeria’s advantage.
Lookman continued his creative influence after the break, supplying the assist for Osimhen’s second goal just two minutes into the second half as Nigeria tightened their grip on the contest.
He later teed up Akor Adams for Nigeria’s fourth goal, completing a night to remember for the winger and underlining his importance to the Super Eagles’ attacking play.
The 28-year-old has now recorded three goals and five assists in three appearances at the AFCON 2025 finals, emerging as one of the tournament’s standout performers.
Lookman had earlier claimed the Man of the Match award in Nigeria’s second group game against Tunisia, further highlighting his strong form heading into the quarter-final stage.
