Ola Aina is set for a potential European return after Nottingham Forest added the Nigerian defender to their UEFA Europa League squad ahead of the final stretch of the competition.

The move marks a significant step in Aina’s recovery after he missed Forest’s early Europa League fixtures due to a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with Nigeria in September.

Having returned to action earlier this month, the full-back has quickly re-established himself in the squad, starting three of Nottingham Forest’s last four matches across all competitions under Sean Dyche.

Aina could make his first Europa League appearance of the campaign when Forest face Portuguese side SC Braga on Thursday, as the Tricky Trees look to bolster their options for the decisive league-phase fixtures.

Forest have also adjusted their squad in goal, with Angus Gunn drafted in to replace the injured John Victor for the remainder of the European campaign.

The late additions underline Forest’s intent to maximise experience and fitness as they push for a strong finish in Europe.
