Super Eagles and Fulham FC midfielder Alex Iwobi has returned to social media after temporarily suspending posting activities online due to the backlash he faced from angry fans who were not impressed by his overall performance at the last AFCON.
After being harassed and cyberbullied following Nigeria’s loss in the Africa Cup of Nations final to Cote d’Ivoire, Iwobi has been away from social media for almost a month.
The 27-year-old player was singled out by several supporters for criticism after a lacklustre performance against Ivory Coast, and critics took to social media to vent their frustrations and insults, which were directed towards the midfield player.
Although his teammates jumped to his defence, the former Arsenal midfielder seems to have been impacted by the trolls and cyberbullying as he temporarily removed himself from social media.
However, Iwobi has made a comeback on social media, as he recently shared a video on his official Instagram page, offering fans a glimpse into his recent activities.
With the release of an unreleased rap song preview in the video, it is implied that Iwobi used music as a way to express his feelings and cope with the criticism.
