German tennis star Alexander Zverev has stirred controversy after accusing tennis authorities of showing preferential treatment to rising stars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in tournament scheduling and officiating decisions.
Speaking after his recent match, Zverev suggested that tournament organizers and ATP officials are “making things easier” for the young sensations to succeed.
“It’s pretty obvious who the tour wants to promote,” Zverev said. “Alcaraz and Sinner get the best schedules, the prime-time slots, and even certain calls go their way. It’s hard to compete on a level playing field when it feels like the system is helping them.”
The 2020 US Open finalist stopped short of naming specific events but hinted that recent Masters tournaments showed a pattern of bias.
ATP representatives have not yet responded to Zverev’s comments, though sources within the organization insist all players are treated equally according to ranking and commercial appeal.
Zverev’s remarks have split opinion in the tennis world — some fans sympathize with his frustration, while others accuse him of deflecting from his own inconsistency on court.
