Falconets player Rukayat Shobowale has reacted to her team’s loss to Ghana’s Princesses in the African Games 2023 football event on Thursday night.
Loveth Edeh gave the Falconets the lead in the twenty-fourth minute of the hotly contested match between the two rivals, but Tracy Twum tied the score for Ghana in the 78th.
However, Mukarama Abdullai got the winner for the hosts in the 99th minute of extra time, thus ending Nigeria’s reign as champions in the women’s football event of the African Games.
While reacting to the loss, Shobowale said that losing to Ghana in the final of the women’s football event of the All African Games 2023 is a bitter pill to swallow.
“It was a hard pill to take losing the final of the Africa Games,” she wrote on her X page.
“We appreciate Nigerians for their support while in Accra,” Shobowale added.
The Falconets will now concentrate their efforts on competing in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia, which is set to begin on August 31 and end on September 22.
