Amazon is preparing to deploy its advanced MK30 drone delivery service in metro Phoenix, marking a watershed moment in drone delivery history.
This development was confirmed by the Phoenix Business Journal on Tuesday.
According to the Journal, Amazon customers in the West Valley Phoenix Metro Area can now order a drone-deliverable selection from Amazon’s catalogue, which includes household, beauty, office, health, and tech items.
Customers will have access to a drone delivery assortment of over 50,000 everyday staples, including household products, cosmetics items, and office/tech equipment, which Amazon claims is the greatest selection of things ever accessible for rapid drone delivery at a service fee.
The e-commerce giant is employing its most recent drone for deliveries, the MK30, which was just licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly outside the visual line of sight of drone controllers.
Amazon claims that the MK30 can fly twice as far as its previous drone, is around 50% quieter to the human ear, and is designed to operate in rainy conditions.
Newsng understands that Amazon has received critical FAA approvals for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations, marking a big step forward in drone delivery technology.
This authorisation enables the corporation to fly drones without direct visual contact, hence boosting its operating possibilities.
According to Amazon, the approval will allow Prime Air to extend drone deliveries and create the groundwork for scaling operations to additional places in the United States.
“We look forward to continuing to learn from customers and communities as we methodically expand this program in months and years to come,” Amazon said in a corporate blog post.
