Users can now make purchases through TikTok without leaving the app through direct integration of Amazon shopping into the platform.
According to a statement from an Amazon representative to Bloomberg, the purpose of this product is to make it easier for Amazon customers to shop on those social networking platforms.
The integration will initially be limited to “select Amazon ads” on the For You page, per a TikTok blog post.
Users have to link their Amazon account information once, in order to purchase the promoted items through TikTok.
When they do, the advertisement itself will offer product specifics like Prime eligibility and shipping estimates.
Newsng gathered that customers of Amazon can finish checking out through the product ad without ever leaving the TikTok app once their accounts are linked.
On some Amazon product adverts on TikTok, users can see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details if they opt to link their accounts in the United States.
Users have the option to delink their Amazon account at any moment using the TikTok app’s settings.
“From TikTok Shop to shoppable ads, we’re investing in commerce solutions that create a frictionless shopping experience for our users to discover, browse, and buy—wherever and however our community chooses to shop,” TikTok said in a blog post on its business page. “We’re excited to collaborate with Amazon to offer a seamless and fun shopping experience.”
The second recent addition to Amazon’s partnership has goals of its own in the social buying space.
Pinterest’s creator-focused approach, which is typified by shoppable shows, has allowed it to stay competitive in the e-commerce space.
These integrations resemble those that Amazon implemented for Instagram and Snapchat the previous year.
Theoretically, both parties gain from these alliances: Amazon expands its reach, and the platforms gain recognition as legitimate online retailers.
