Amazon is introducing a new AI-powered search function for Fire TV called Alexa.
This feature, as per the announcement seen by Newsng on Friday, will allow Alexa to respond to general inquiries about movies and TV series and provide more specialised recommendations based on the preference of the user.
Amazon revealed the new voice search feature powered by AI in honour of the 10th anniversary of Amazon Fire TV.
Alexa will suggest content, much like a buddy, to make it simple for people to find what they want to watch.
According to reports, the recently released AI-powered search feature can locate content based on subjects, genres, narrative aspects, actors, and phrases. It was trained on data from services like IMDb.
The feature which was unveiled in September at Amazon’s annual gadgets event, is driven by a proprietary large language model (LLM). Which movie contains the saying “Life is like a box of chocolates?”
The AI can respond to specific questions like these and comprehend natural language and phrases. (“Forrest Gump,” incidentally).
Experts believe that better search, content discovery, and personalised recommendations can help alleviate the choice fatigue that many consumers experience when faced with a plethora of programming options, poor recommendations, and fragmentation in terms of where and what services are available at any given time for specific content.
Customers in the United States who own Fire TV devices running Fire OS 6 or later will be able to access the new feature in a few weeks.
The company previously released three Alexa experiences that allowed you to play games and compose music, in addition to an AI-powered image generator that created TV backdrops.
We earlier reported that Amazon has launched a generative AI-powered tool that allows sellers to create listings through a URL by entering just a few words about the product.
