The Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Patricia Igwebuike, accompanied by her counterpart in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunnanne, embarked on a significant visit to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to delve into sustainable transport planning and implementation.

The duo said the visit underscores the commitment of Anambra State to enhance its transportation infrastructure and services.

The delegation was received by Mr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga, the Director of Rail, representing the Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo.

During the visit, Hon. Igwebuike expressed her admiration for Lagos state’s pioneering efforts in public transportation.

She also conveyed her optimism that LAMATA’s expertise and experience would greatly aid Anambra State in realizing its transportation vision.

Lagos State has earned a reputation as a trailblazer in the field of public transportation, consistently striving for innovation and excellence.

The visit by the Anambra state delegation signifies the intent to draw valuable insights and best practices from Lagos State’s extensive experience in this sector.

As part of their visit, the delegation had the opportunity to experience firsthand one of Lagos state’s public transportation achievements by taking a journey on the Blue Line Rail.

The delegation travelled from the iconic Marina Station to Mile 2 and back, gaining practical insights into the system’s functioning.

Experts say the exchange of knowledge and collaboration between states is a testament to the importance of sharing expertise and lessons learned in pursuing sustainable and efficient transportation systems.

A Nigerian, Shola Adegbayi wrote on X:

”I love it. It reflects the commitment of Nigerian states to address transportation challenges and elevate the quality of life for their residents.

”The visit to LAMATA by the Anambra state commissioner for transport and her counterpart signifies a step toward improving transportation infrastructure and services in Anambra state.

”Hopefully, this engagement will lead to valuable collaborations and the adoption of innovative transportation solutions for the benefit of Anambra state residents and visitors.”
