Nigerians on social media are displeased over a report claiming that an apprentice in Alaba international market, Lagos, was forced to share his N16 million bet win with his boss.
The story was shared by a Twitter user by the name, Oku, via his handle on Thursday, October 19.
Oku said after the boy won the N16 million, his boss demanded half of the share. He claimed when the matter was reported to other traders in the market, they asked the boy to give his boss half of the money which is N8 million.
“So this boy who is currently undergoing his Apprenticeship with oga at Alaba market won 16 million naira on BET and his boss requested he shared the money into 2. Meaning his boss goes with 8 million. I hear the market people supported his boss so he had to oblige,” he said.
However, many social media users who felt the apprentice was unfairly treated, denounced the boss for collecting half of the money.
Some even went as far as calling the boss a thief for demanding 8 million naira from his apprentice.
