Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hosted former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo at his residence in Abuja on Saturday.
The meeting between Ganduje and Dokubo, known for his involvement in the Niger Delta region’s socio-political issues, has sparked curiosity and raised eyebrows within political circles and the public.
Dokubo, a prominent advocate for the rights of Niger Delta communities, had previously been associated with the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, an armed group that had been involved in the region’s struggles for resource control and representation.
However, he has shifted his focus to political activism recently.
The nature of the meeting between Ganduje and Dokubo remains undisclosed, leaving room for speculation and conjecture.
While some view this meeting as a step towards fostering political alliances and building bridges across regions, others remain cautious, considering the history of conflict and tension in the Niger Delta.
The APC and Dokubo’s camp have yet to release official statements regarding the meeting.
However, Dokubo has been very vocal about his support for President Bola Tinubu in recent times.
He also visited the Presidential Villa to meet with the president weeks after Tinubu was sworn in as the Nigerian leader.
