The All Progressives Congress (APC), through its Youth Wing, is set to launch the inaugural Enterprise-Skills Development Training (EDET) Programme.
The ruling party said the initiative aims to revolutionize the nation’s economic landscape by equipping young entrepreneurs with essential skills and resources.
The EDET Programme is an intensive five-day entrepreneurship training event that will host over 1,000 young entrepreneurs.
Speakers at the event include Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos and the party’s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to a statement from APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, the programme promises to provide participants with the tools and expertise needed to start, scale, and innovate businesses across various industries.
Israel also said the programme will include a pitch competition with a $5,000 seed funding prize, fireside chats with successful entrepreneurs, and a comprehensive toolkit extending beyond business ideation.
He added: ”Participants will have the opportunity to connect with leading mentors, funding sources, and other essential resources to ensure their business success.
”The EDET Programme is designed to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, addressing the challenges faced by young Nigerians in realizing their business potential.
”Through this initiative, the APC aims to create a vibrant ecosystem of young entrepreneurs who will drive economic growth, create jobs, and contribute to national development.
”The programme’s impact is expected to be felt across various sectors, including technology, agriculture, creative industries, and more.
”The EDET Programme is open to all Nigerian youth, regardless of political affiliation or location, and registration is free.
”This inclusive approach reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs and supporting their journey towards achieving business success and national development.”
In a related development, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerian youths to take ownership of the nation’s democracy, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping the country’s future.
The appeal was made by the party’s National Youth Leader, Chukwuka Odimbu, during a one-day National Leadership Conference held in Abuja recently.
“ADC hereby implores our youths to take ownership of our dear country as it belongs to all of us. As youths, we make up a chunk of the country’s population; our numerical strength is unmatchable as we have a vital role to play towards sensitizing the entire populace,” Odimbu stated.
