Justice Abdulhamid Yakubu of Gombe State High Court has passed a judgemental sentence of four months in jail for one Khadijah Ibrahim Boss for engaging in electoral crimes during the 2023 elections.
Khadijah was accused of using money and other items to lure voters to vote for her candidates during the state’s Governorship and State House elections.
Khadijah Ibrahim Boss is charged with the following offences:
On or around 18th March 2023, within Gombe’s jurisdiction, Khadijah Boss used bundles of fabrics to divert votes within three hundred meters to a polling station during the election for the governorship and state house of assembly.
This offence was committed in violation of Section 126(1)(a) of the Election Act, 2022, which is punishable by Section 121(3).
The EFCC counsel who presented evidence of her offence said that such an offence had not been experienced by the state’s zonal command.
Khadijah Boss was sentenced to three months imprisonment with a thirty thousand Naira fine and one-month imprisonment with ten thousand Naira fine on the second count, four months overall.
The Court judgement on Khadijah Boss is to run at once.
The Court applauded the zonal command adding that it will eliminate such electoral offenders in the zone.
