Newly appointed coach of English Premier League (EPL) side Liverpool Arne Slot has opened up on his transfer plans and tactical approach ahead of the new season.
The Dutch professional manager and former player who spoke to the press immediately after his formal unveiling told The Athletic that recruitment has been the major focus for him in the last weeks.
Slot played as a midfielder for FC Zwolle, where he won the Eerste Divisie in 2002, NAC Breda, and Sparta Rotterdam before retiring as a player back at PEC Zwolle noted that he and Richard Hughes are calling each other almost every day.
He said; “I can say recruitment has been part of my time in the last weeks”.

“Me and Richard Hughes are calling each other almost every day, we are going to work together when it comes to transfers”.
Regarding the tactical approach he will likely deploy when he fully mounts the saddle as Liverpool coach, Slot said that he will implement a style that involves having the ball a lot.
Slot said; “We want to implement our style of play very soon. It’s about having the ball a lot, to have a lot of energy”.
“The fans love to see a team who wants to do anything to win a game, and if the game is tough to do anything to turn it around”. He noted.
