Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare marked a personal milestone on Saturday by scoring his first Premier League goal, though it ended in disappointment as Wolves fell 2–1 to Arsenal.
The Nigerian forward, making his 12th league appearance of the season, delivered a crucial late moment for his side with a powerful header that briefly reignited Wolves’ hopes of securing a point.
Arsenal dominated possession from the opening stages, dictating the tempo and pinning Wolves deep in their own half, but found it difficult to break down a well-organised and disciplined defence.
Despite their control, the Gunners were kept at bay until midway through the second half, when a Bukayo Saka corner caused chaos in the Wolves’ penalty area.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing Arsenal a deserved but scrappy breakthrough after sustained pressure.
Wolves thought they had stolen a dramatic equaliser in the 90th minute when Arokodare rose above his marker to head home, scoring his maiden Premier League goal and sparking celebrations.
However, the joy was short-lived as Arsenal struck again almost immediately, delivering a late sucker punch that condemned Wolves to another defeat and left them 13 points adrift of safety.
