Eberechi Eze, a midfielder for Crystal Palace Football Club, is about to join north London rivals Arsenal in a remarkable transfer deal worth more than £60 million.
The England international, who has been among the Premier League’s best players for the last two seasons, has been quickly signed by the Gunners after Tottenham Hotspur also showed interest.
Personal arrangements with the talented player have been agreed upon, and negotiations between the two teams are reportedly at an advanced level.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been reached by all parties involved, and Crystal Palace will receive a package in excess of £60 million for Eze.
‘‘BREAKING: Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties.
‘‘Crystal Palace to receive package above £60m as Eze preferred #AFC over Spurs.
‘‘Arsenal win race over Tottenham, been in advanced talks for days but never sealed.’’ Romano wrote on his X page.
The 26-year-old Eze has drawn interest from a number of elite teams, but Arsenal has the upper hand due to their emphasis on attacking depth and creativity.
His versatility, which allows him to play both advanced and midfield positions, is regarded as a crucial asset for Mikel Arteta’s team as they continue to aim for both domestic and European success.
Crystal Palace, while reluctant to lose their star man, were persuaded by Arsenal’s sizeable offer, which is expected to exceed £60m once add-ons are included. The deal would make Eze one of the most expensive British players in history.
