Arsenal is reportedly on the verge of officially unveiling Viktor Gyökeres as their new striker. The prolific Swedish international is set to lead the Gunners’ attack next season, with a deal worth approximately £55 million plus add-ons agreed with Sporting CP.

Gyökeres is expected to undergo his medical tests in London this weekend, having already agreed to a five-year contract with Arsenal. He is reportedly eager to join the club and is expected to link up with the squad for their pre-season tour in Asia, potentially making his debut against Tottenham in Hong Kong.

This move follows extensive negotiations and marks a significant acquisition for Mikel Arteta’s side as they aim to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Sporting CP has reportedly accepted Arsenal’s most recent bid, which is estimated to be approximately €63.5 million (£55 million) up front, according to several reports, including those from Sportstar and Goal.com.

Arsenal is also anticipated to pay a further €10 million (£8.7 million) in performance-based add-ons, bringing the total package to roughly €73.5 million (£63.5 million). The player’s agent reportedly agreed to lower his commission to close the deal, which was a significant move in the discussions.

According to reports, Gyokeres’ strong desire to join Arsenal has been a deciding factor despite late interest from other clubs, including Manchester United. The player has often stated that he prefers a move to North London.
