Super Falcons and Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala has taken to her social media page to express her wish for an African country to host the Olympic Games.
The prolific striker who expressed her wish in a post on her X handle (formerly Twitter) said that it would be a ground-breaking affair if an African country wins the right to stage the Olympics.
According to the 29-year-old, should an African country win the right to stage the Olympic Games, the best of our culture will be on display for the world to see.
“I would love to see the Olympic Games happen on African soil someday. The opening ceremony will be brutal.
“Our culture is truly beautiful,” Oshoala wrote on her official X handle on July 27.
Recall that the Super Falcons were defeated by Brazil as the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament got underway with a 37th-minute goal by Gabi Nunes separating the two-time Olympic silver medalists and the nine-time African champions.
The Super Falcons are now gearing up to face Spain at the Stade de la Beujoire in Nantes, followed by a group-stage match against Japan on Wednesday, July 31.
