Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala is confident that Nigeria’s women’s national football team will overcome all challenges to clinch the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

The 30-year-old forward, who currently plays for U.S.-based club Bay FC, expressed her readiness to deliver goals for the team in their quest to secure a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

She affirmed that the Super Falcons are determined to give their best, starting from the group stage matches against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, and continuing all the way to reclaim the African crown.

“For me personally, I want to score goals — it’s what I love to do,” Oshoala told Super Falcons media.

The prolific striker also explained that her absence from the national team for over a year was due to personal issues, but she is now fully focused and eager to help Nigeria dominate African women’s football once again.

“It’s been a while since I’ve played with the national team because there were so many things going on in my personal life. But now I’m here, ready to give my all on the pitch and help my teammates secure three points in every game we play,” she said.

“My expectations for the team remain the same: give 100 percent on the pitch, aim to win every game, and treat each match with the same level of importance.”
