Atiku Abubakar emerged as the winner of the presidential election in Akwa Ibom state as announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Peoples Democratic Party flagbearer polled 214,012 votes to defeat his closest rival Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who had 160,620 votes.
Atiku polled a total of 214,012 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, who scored 160,620 votes.

Atiku won in 23 out of the 31 local government areas in the state while Tinubu won in five LGAs.
The ex-vice president also won his first LGA in Rivers state after being announced as the winner in Okrika local government.
Atiku who has been rubbing shoulders with the Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, garnered a total of 8,476 votes while the APC had 4,018 and Peter Obi’s Labour Party finished with 2,729.
