Former Nigerian Vice President and prominent political figure, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State following the affirmation of his electoral victory by the Plateau State Election Tribunal.
Atiku, who contested for the presidency in the 2023 general elections under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noted that the governor’s victory at the tribunal indicates that he is popular among his people.
In a short statement posted on his social media pages, Atiku praised Governor Mutfwang for his unwavering leadership and dedication to the people of Plateau State.
It read: “Congratulations to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, on the affirmation of your victory at the Plateau State Election Tribunal. Your leadership and commitment to the people remain unyielding. Here’s to an impactful and prosperous tenure ahead.”
The Plateau State Election Tribunal’s confirmation of Governor Mutfwang’s victory was pronounced earlier today.
Political watchers say the verdict is seen as a validation of the people’s choice in Plateau State and a testament to the resilience of Governor Mutfwang’s leadership.
Reacting to the verdict, a PDP chieftain, Mark Dongbam said:
”This development has garnered attention and support from various quarters, as it signals stability and continuity in the governance of Plateau State.
”It also sets the stage for Governor Caleb Mutfwang to continue addressing the state’s pressing issues and working towards its development and prosperity during his tenure.
”His reconfirmation will provide a sense of continuity in the state’s governance, allowing him to focus on initiatives that will benefit the people of Plateau.”
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, had challenged the election and declaration of Mutfwang at the tribunal.
