The 2024 MTV EMA nominations have been revealed by MTV, and African celebrities are the main attraction, highlighting their amazing accomplishments of the previous year. African acts with the most nominations include Afrobeats sensations Tyla and Ayra Starr, who each have four nods.

In addition to being nominated for “Best Push,” Ayra Starr is also up for “Best New,” “Best Afrobeats,” and “Best African Act” for her riveting performances on MTV Push.

The MTV EMAs have acknowledged South African singer Tyla in four categories: “Best R&B,” “Best Afrobeats,” “Best New,” and “Best African Act.” This is her first time receiving an MTV EMA nomination.

Other African heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, and Tems have also been nominated in the “Best Afrobeats” category. Additionally, Asake, Diamond Platnumz, DBN Gogo, TitoM & Yuppe have secured nominations in the “Best African Act” regional category.

Monde Twala, Senior Vice-President & General Manager of Paramount Africa and Lead BET International commented on the nominated African acts, saying, “We are incredibly proud to see African artists continuing to shine on the global stage at the 2024 MTV EMAs. The nominations reflect the remarkable talent and diversity of Africa’s music scene, with Afrobeats and other genres making a powerful impact worldwide.

‘‘Artists like Ayra Starr, Tyla, Burna Boy, Tems and many others are true ambassadors of African excellence, and their achievements inspire the next generation of creatives across the continent. MTV remains committed to amplifying African voices and showcasing their artistry to audiences around the world.”
