Spanish La Liga side Barcelona FC have confirmed German tactician Hansi Flick as the new head coach of the club, replacing outgoing club legend Xavi Hernandez.
Flick signed today (Wednesday) as the new Barcelona head coach on a contract valid until June 2026 and an initial meeting to plan the summer transfer window will take place soon.
While speaking to the press after his appointment, Flick said; “I’m proud to be at Barça, it’s a wonderful and incredible club, really.
“We share the same vision, possession and quality football.
“Barça has La Masia, one of the best academies in the world; so our mission is to improve all the players,” he noted.
“FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement for the German to become men’s first-team football coach until June 30, 2026,” a club statement read.

Flick was dismissed by Germany in September following a 4-1 friendly defeat to Japan on the back of a group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
His appointment comes days after Xavi sent a warning message to the next coach of the club about the real situation of things at Camp Nou.
Xavi spoke to the media after signing off with a win against Sevilla and stated that he wants the next coach to understand that Barcelona is in a difficult situation at the moment.
The coach said that the next Barca coach will have to work hard because it is not easy and he will suffer, but he should be patient because it is a very complicated position.
