In the wake of President Trump’s recently passed economic reform package—dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill”—the White House is setting its sights on digital asset regulation as its next major policy priority.
Bo Hines, the President’s crypto policy advisor, confirmed the shift in focus shortly after the House narrowly approved the sweeping bill in a 218–214 vote. While the legislation primarily tackled tax relief, eliminated taxes on tips, and reinforced border controls, Hines emphasised that cryptocurrency will now take centre stage.
In a statement shared on X, Hines announced plans for Crypto Week, set to begin July 14, which will spotlight efforts to reshape the U.S. regulatory approach to digital assets.
Key bills moving through Congress include the GENIUS Act, which has already cleared the Senate in a decisive 68–30 vote. The bill provides a framework for stablecoin oversight, balancing consumer protection with room for innovation. It is now awaiting President Trump’s signature.
Meanwhile, the Clarity Act is making progress in the Senate after earning strong bipartisan approval in the House Agriculture Committee. The bill aims to clarify the regulatory status of digital assets by distinguishing between digital commodities and securities. Hines praised the bill’s structure, calling it a “phenomenal” effort to give industry players the legal clarity they need.
“This is just the beginning,” Hines said. “Our strategy is clear—we are building America into the global leader in blockchain and digital finance. We won’t stop. We will keep winning.”
