Brigadier General Edet Effiong, the Commander of the 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army, and Commander of Sector 3, Joint Task Force, Operation DELTA SAFE, has distributed palliatives to widows at the Port Harcourt Barracks. A total of 85 widows benefited from this generous gesture.
Addressing the widows, Brigadier General Edet Effiong emphasized that the distribution of palliatives was intended to provide support during these challenging times.
He highlighted that the initiative was aligned with the vision of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, expressing that the offerings, though small in comparison to their sacrifice, aimed to provide some relief to the widows who have lost their loved ones in service to the nation and humanity.
While acknowledging the irreplaceable loss suffered by these families, Effiong encouraged the widows not to lose hope and assured them of their strength to overcome adversity, rebuild their lives, and create meaningful futures.
”This initiative to support the widows forms part of a broader spectrum of activities aimed at improving the quality of life for both troops and their families within the Port Harcourt Barracks, demonstrating the military’s commitment to not only serving the nation but also caring for the well-being of the families of those who have served and sacrificed,” a statement from the Nigerian Army noted.
