President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to influence the outcome of the 2023 general election.
President Buhari gave the charge when APC governors paid him a courtesy visit at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Tuesday.
In a statement by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, President Buhari noted that the successes recorded during the governorship elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun states give him the assurance of a better outcome at the 2023 polls.
“I want Nigerians to know that we respect them, and for us to show that, we will allow them to vote who they want,” Buhari said.
“The government will also ensure that Nigerians don’t get intimidated or humiliated by those in positions or the more privileged.
“We will not allow anyone to use personal resources or their influence to intimidate other Nigerians.” “We will not allow intimidation materially, morally, or physically,” the president assured.
Governor Abubakar Bagudu, who led his colleagues to the Villa, congratulated President Buhari on the 3.5 per cent economic growth recorded recently.
