Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has made a bold prediction about Manchester United’s managerial future, claiming that current boss Rúben Amorim could be dismissed before Christmas if results don’t improve.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Carragher questioned United’s direction under Amorim, who took over during the summer amid high expectations of reviving the club’s fortunes.

The embattled Portuguese tactician has endured a turbulent start to life at Old Trafford, with inconsistent performances and mounting pressure from fans and pundits alike.

Amorim, who had previously guided Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon to league glory, has been a “disaster” for Man United since his arrival, according to Carragher.

The former England player insisted that Amorim’s contract must be terminated “as soon as possible,” but he hinted that the management of Man United had not yet let him go because doing so would have required an admission of error.

“I don’t like saying a manager should be sacked – it’s disrespectful and it’s a man’s job – but I’m at that point where I do think Ruben Amorim’s job is untenable,” Carragher said.

“It’s inevitable that this is going to happen before Christmas.

“His stats are unbelievable for a Manchester United manager – 50 games as Manchester United manager, he’s only scored two more goals than he’s conceded.”

Carragher’s comments have sparked widespread debate among fans, with some agreeing that United’s hierarchy could lose patience early, while others believe the manager deserves more time to implement his philosophy.
