The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has reported receiving a staggering 1.9 million job applications from across Nigeria for its latest recruitment exercise for 30,000 slots.
Data from the board shows that Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina recorded the largest number of applicants.
The application process, which was originally planned to begin on June 26, experienced multiple delays due to persistent technical issues. It was first pushed to July 14, then again to July 21. Following further portal problems, the initial August 4 deadline was extended by one week, with the final closure taking place on August 11, 2025.
Announcing the closure via its official X account, the CDCFIB stated: “The official recruitment portal for the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board is now closed. We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to serving with honour, integrity and national pride.
“Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly with further instructions. Please monitor your email and text messages over the coming weeks for notifications. We also encourage you to regularly check the portal and social media handles for important updates.”
The exercise was open to Nigerian citizens aged 18–35 who met the physical requirements (minimum height: 1.65m for men and 1.60m for women), had no criminal record, and were physically and mentally fit. Applicants were required to hold at least an SSCE with credits, while qualifications in areas such as law, engineering, medicine, or technical skills were considered an advantage.

The recruitment covers four paramilitary services under CDCFIB — the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Positions were available in three entry levels: Superintendent (A), Inspectorate (B), and Assistant (C), with job roles ranging from professionals to drivers and administrative staff.
