UFC superstar Conor McGregor has been handed a fresh mega-money fight offer — this time from former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who says he’s ready to face the Irishman on the UFC’s proposed White House card next year.
In a bold challenge, Oliveira publicly called out McGregor, urging the former double champion to “make history” by headlining the UFC’s first-ever card to be hosted on the grounds of the White House.
The former UFC lightweight champion is anticipating a possible matchup with McGregor at the UFC White House event next year in a much-anticipated fight.
Speaking to reporters at the UFC Rio media day, Oliveira explained why: “Financial [reason]. I just said I’m the most truthful one here.
“My history wasn’t manufactured; my history is the way it is. I won’t change my way of speaking.
“Why the desire to fight Conor? Finances.
“How much money do you think that would generate? How much money would that bring to everyone’s pockets? It’s a lot of money.
“We’re talking about a lot of money. So why? That’s the truth.”
Oliveira clarified that it is merely a planned action that would profit those involved in the deal, not a personal grudge.
He explained, “It’s not because he beat this guy or that guy or has done this or that. He’s never said a bad thing about me.
“Quite the opposite, I’m always saying good things about him. He’s made history inside the cage, beating great names.
“He had his way of talking—it’s not the way I talk or the way I like to promote, but it’s a way of promoting and has made him a lot of money and has done a lot for our sport.
“But why do I want the fight? Because it would give me a lot of money—that’s the truth. I have nothing against him.”
The offer reportedly includes a multi-million-dollar payout, with both fighters seen as marquee names capable of delivering blockbuster pay-per-view numbers. UFC President Dana White has teased plans for a high-profile “White House Fight Night” event in Washington, D.C., though no official date has been confirmed.
McGregor, who has yet to return since his leg injury in 2021, remains one of the sport’s biggest draws. He recently hinted that talks for his comeback fight are underway, fueling speculation that the White House card could serve as his grand return to the Octagon.
