Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has joined West Ham United on a loan deal until the end of the 2025–26 season. The 27-year-old French international had been struggling to get playing time at Stamford Bridge, making only 44 appearances since joining Chelsea in August 2023.

Disasi, who scored on his Chelsea debut, had been relegated to the club’s “bomb squad” under former head coach Enzo Maresca. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 7 Premier League appearances.

West Ham, currently 18th in the Premier League, hopes Disasi will strengthen their defence, which has conceded 48 goals in 24 games. The loan deal does not include an option to buy, so Disasi will return to Chelsea at the end of the season unless the Hammers negotiate a permanent transfer.

Disasi’s move to West Ham marks the end of a turbulent period for the defender, who had been training separately from the Chelsea squad. He expressed his excitement about joining West Ham, saying, “I’m very happy to be here, to have this opportunity”

Chelsea confirmed the transfer, with the club wishing Disasi well during his loan spell. West Ham will pay Chelsea £1.7 million for the loan deal

Disasi joins West Ham as they look to battle relegation, with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side facing fellow strugglers Burnley next. The defender will compete with Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman, and Konstantinos Mavropanos for a spot in central defence
