In a $15 million lawsuit, the makers of the mocking party game “Cards Against Humanity” are accusing Elon Musk’s SpaceX of unlawfully dumping “gravel, tractors, and space garbage” on their immaculate property.
The case, which was submitted to a Texas state court on Thursday, charges SpaceX workers with trespassing and causing damage to property that Cards Against Humanity bought in 2017 close to the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to the lawsuit, to create room for SpaceX vehicles to park and operate, contractors cleared the area of vegetation and covered it with gravel.
Using more than $2 million in donations, Cards Against Humanity was able to acquire the land close to Brownsville, Texas, to oppose former President Donald Trump’s intentions to construct a wall along the southern border.
The press statement states that SpaceX is being sued by Cards Against Humanity for “trespassing, destruction of property, and brand damages” as a result of the company’s “unpermitted storage of construction materials and equipment” on its property.
The entertainment company pledges to return any financial profits to the original backers of its 2017 land purchase if the lawsuit is heard and the plaintiff wins.
Cards Against Humanity wrote on Friday on Instagram that Musk “snuck up on us from behind and completely (expletive) that land with gravel, tractors, and space garbage.”
In the game Cards Against Humanity, players respond to subjects presented by the cards with humorous and irreverent answers.
During the game’s initial development in 2010, the company was dependent on crowdsourcing. As part of its marketing strategy, it pulls off several practical jokes and stunts to draw attention to what it claims are injustices.
We earlier reported that a pioneering duo of astronauts has made history by becoming the first private civilians to do a spacewalk, which NASA describes as “a giant leap forward” for the commercial space industry.
The first non-professional crew to complete one of the riskiest space manoeuvres, a spacewalk, consists of a billionaire and an engineer.
