China has pledged $1 million to aid flood-affected communities in Nigeria. The donation was formalised in Abuja on Wednesday during a signing ceremony between the Chinese government and Nigeria’s Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed China’s support.
“China has donated one million dollars to Nigeria in support of people affected by the recent devastating floods across the country,” the NAN report read in part.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, noted that the assistance comes at a critical time and assured that transparent measures will be in place to ensure proper use of the funds. A joint monitoring mechanism with the Chinese Embassy will oversee disbursement.
Bagudu added that the gesture reflects deepening bilateral ties that now extend to disaster relief, beyond trade, infrastructure, and technology.
