The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has issued a communiqué urging President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
The statement, released at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, expressed concern over the escalating cost of living, leading to widespread hunger and suffering among the populace.
YOWICAN also denounced the nation’s growing level of insecurity, bringing attention in particular to recent assaults on Christians in the state of Plateau and other areas.
The group asked for the immediate detention and prosecution of a Muslim cleric who was purportedly advocating for Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Tinubu, to be killed because she is a Christian.
The communiqué stressed the importance of swift action to address the security challenges and prevent further deterioration.
YOWICAN called for the public prosecution of the cleric and recommended restricting him from preaching in Nigeria to serve as a deterrent to others.
Additionally, the association expressed concern about the rising unemployment among youths and called on the government to implement effective policies to address this challenge.
