Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has reacted to reports making the rounds that he is set to leave top-flight Scottish club Rangers FC after spending just one season with the club.
Dessers who reacted to the report in a recent chat with the Scottish media said that he is happy to be a player of the club and he would like to stay on as a player.
The player, however, did not deny that other clubs have shown an interest in him.
“I am very happy here, so I would like to stay,” he was quoted by Football Scotland.
“There is some interest, but my intention is to stay and then we will see what happens.”
This comes weeks after Sky Sports presenter Dan Bardelli explained why Rangers should not Dessers this summer despite the temptation to do away with the player.
talkSPORT’s Bardelli warned of the risk in replacing a proven goal scorer.

He noted that he does not think that Rangers can lose many more goals from their side, but with Dessers leaving, they would lose a large proportion of goals moving forward.
“It’s always a risk letting a player go who has already proven that they can score goals and replacing them. I don’t think Rangers can lose many more goals from their side, but with Dessers leaving, they would lose a large proportion,” Bardelli said in an interview with Ibrox News.
“When signing a new forward, there’s no guarantee it will work out better than him. Rangers must be careful because goal scorers come at a premium, and every club is looking for a number nine.
“The number nine market is harder than it’s probably ever been, so it is a risk for Rangers. If they bring someone new in, they’ve got to get it right.” He added.
Weeks ago, sources reported that Greek champions PAOK Salonika and Rangers are negotiating the signing of Nigerian striker Dessers, who has submitted a transfer request to push the move.
