A senior officer of the Nigeria Police Force has been arrested for illegal shooting of a motorbike road user for unknown reasons, the incident took place at Ekrerhavwe Junction in a town called Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State.
The Police inspector whose name was not revealed was detained by the police force, the motorist identified as Lucky was shot in a stop and search operation in the area.
The report of his arrest was released by the police public relations officer Bright Edafe.
Edafed said that the the arrest was received by the order of the state Commissioner of police Wale Abass on hearing about the incident
The commissioner of police further ordered that the arrested inspector be taken to the state investigation Unit for further investigations to be carried out on him for his offence.
Abbas also expressed his sadness over the incident and wished the affected civilian a quick recovery from his injury, he then noted that the police force is a disciplined organization and will not ignore such crime by any of their force officers.
Abbas also added that the police officer would be subjected to internal discipline and criminal prosecution for his offence.
The commissioner finally urged citizens to live by the rules and maintain peace, as justice will be done to the matter.
