In a bid to enhance security measures and combat crime within Ebonyi state, the government, under the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru, has officially implemented a comprehensive ban on the use of tinted car glasses across all regions of the state.
Additionally, the state government has prohibited the operation of vehicles lacking proper number plates and licenses, as well as the unauthorized use of sirens.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized the significance of these measures in safeguarding the lives and property of residents, addressing the public through a statement issued on Friday.
The announcement, communicated by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, outlined the severity of these restrictions, stressing that no individual, regardless of their status, is permitted to utilize tinted glasses or sirens within the state.
The statement highlighted that operating vehicles without the required plate numbers and licenses are now considered a serious offence throughout the state.
Law enforcement agencies have been given explicit directives to apprehend offenders, impound their vehicles, and subject them to thorough interrogation. The release of impounded vehicles will only be sanctioned upon obtaining clearance from the Office of the Governor.
Governor Nwifuru urged residents and the general public to strictly adhere to these directives, reinforcing the collective responsibility to foster a secure and crime-free environment within Ebonyi state.
