President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim community as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, while using the occasion to reassure citizens that the country’s economic reforms are beginning to yield positive results.

In a statement released for the Islamic festival, President Tinubu emphasized the deeper spiritual significance of the celebration beyond its joyous nature.

“While this festival is marked with joy and celebration, its true significance lies much deeper: Eid calls us to reflect on its core values of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness,” the President stated.

The President used the platform to address ongoing concerns about Nigeria’s economic situation, acknowledging the challenges while expressing confidence about prospects.

“Though the journey has not been easy, and some doubted our direction, the resilience of public and private sector leaders, along with the steadfast support of most Nigerians, is yielding results,” Tinubu declared. “I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago.”

The President revealed that key economic indicators are now moving in a positive direction, suggesting that the administration’s reform efforts are gaining momentum.

“Our reforms are gaining traction, with key economic indicators now moving in a positive direction. Soon, all will feel the benefits,” he assured Nigerians.

President Tinubu emphasised that the ultimate goal of the ongoing reforms extends beyond statistical improvements to meaningful transformation of citizens’ lives.

“The ultimate objective of these reforms is not just to improve statistics but to transform lives and set Nigeria firmly on the path to sustainable development,” he explained.

He encouraged Nigerians to maintain their faith and patience during this transitional period, stating: “We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere.”

The President also addressed recent national challenges, specifically mentioning the devastating flooding that occurred in Mokwa, Niger State, on May 28.

“I recall recent sad developments in our country, particularly the Wednesday, May 28 heavy flooding, which submerged the market town of Mokwa, Niger State, causing deaths and destruction of properties and creating an untold humanitarian crisis,” Tinubu said. “Let us pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and fortitude for their relations.”

He called on Nigerians to support government efforts in providing relief to the affected communities.

The President connected the Islamic festival’s core teachings to national development, emphasising values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity.

“To truly honour Eid, we must embody these virtues, just as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) exemplified complete submission to Allah’s will and as our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has taught us,” he stated.

He also highlighted the inclusive nature of the celebration’s values: “Remember that Eid-el-Kabir enjoins love, compassion, and generosity for all, regardless of faith or background.”

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to its campaign promises, President Tinubu referenced the “Renewed Hope Agenda” as the framework for national transformation.

“We crafted our Renewed Hope Agenda to bring prosperity to every Nigerian, and we remain steadfast in our pursuit of it,” he declared.

The President concluded his message by calling for prayers for security personnel, national leaders, and global peace, while encouraging acts of kindness and support among citizens during the festival period.

“May those who have more remember those in need, sharing kindness and support as true brothers and sisters,” he urged, as Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice.
