Nigerian female boxer, Elizabeth Oshoba, defeated Agustina Marisa Belen Rojas, an Argentine opponent, at the Women’s Super-Featherweight Clash at Brentwood Center in the United Kingdom this past weekend.
Oshoba, who had not lost in seven fights prior, stopped Agustina in the third round of their six-round fight, advancing her record to 8-0-0 with five knockouts.
After defeating Michela Braga in Copenhagen, Denmark, Oshoba, a 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, became the new WBC Women’s Silver and IBO Women’s International Featherweight Champion. This makes the 24-year-old the first Nigerian woman to win a major boxing title since Helen Joseph.

“It was an amazing one last night. Looking forward to the big fight 100 per cent, on to the next,” she said after the fight.
After winning, Oshoba is focused on the prospect of facing Syke Nicholson, the undefeated Australian women’s featherweight champion, in a potential match.
Despite Nicholson’s eight-bout winning streak to start her professional career, Oshoba called her out in her post-fight interview and stated she wanted the fight to be the next.
If Oshoba prevails over Nicholson in that fight, he might be eligible to defend his world title later in the year.
