According to a court document released on Monday, Elon Musk has reopened a lawsuit against Sam Altman in federal court, claiming that the CEO of Tesla was tricked into co-founding OpenAI.

Musk, who was a co-founder of OpenAI in 2015, filed a lawsuit against the business in February, claiming that ChatGPT had abandoned its initial charitable goal in favour of keeping some of its most cutting-edge AI technology exclusive to private clients.

Then, in June, he abandoned the case without providing a reason, following the release of old emails from Musk concerning the founding of ChatGPT by OpenAI and one day before a judge’s decision regarding its dismissal.

“The perfidy and deceit are of Shakespearean proportions,” the lawsuit alleges.

Newsng understands that the allegations made in the latest complaint bear similarities to one that Musk had brought in California this year against OpenAI and Altman; however, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla eventually abandoned the suit.

Over the past few years, Musk has made no secret of his dread of artificial intelligence and the threats it poses to humankind.

In the most recent complaint, Musk claims that Altman and Brockman “manipulated” him into co-founding OpenAI by promising “that it would chart a safer, more open course than profit-driven tech giants.”

The new lawsuit filed in a district court in Northern California claims that OpenAI violated federal racketeering statutes in an attempt to deceive Musk and that, should artificial general intelligence (AGI) be attained, Microsoft’s rights to OpenAI’s technology will be terminated under the terms of the company’s contract with Microsoft.

We earlier reported that Sam Altman has been reinstated in the ChatGPT maker’s board of directors along with three new members.

Three other members have joined him: Fidji Simo, the CEO of Instacart, Sue Desmond-Hellmann, the former CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Nicole Seligman, the former president of Sony Entertainment.
