X, the Elon Musk-owned network that was once known as Twitter, is making significant modifications to its Creator Revenue Sharing Program.
The social media giant revealed that starting on November 8, it would begin compensating monetised creators on X depending on engagement from X Premium members.
This information is outlined in a document found in the X Help Centre.
Previously, creators received a portion of ad revenue from ads that appeared in their posts.
However, the company has changed its strategy, choosing to compensate creators based on the interaction their content receives from X’s Premium users.
This change comes as the company faces increasing tension with advertisers, including legal action against a group that boycotted the platform.
“Payouts are increasing and you’ll now be paid based on engagement with your content from Premium users – not ads in replies.
“Ads in replies will no longer impact your payout. Instead, you’ll be paid based on engagement with your content from Premium users.
“So, when your followers subscribe to X Premium and engage with your content, they support you directly. And, because X Premium is growing, your payout is too.”
Experts claimed that we’ll have to wait and see if X deters users from looking for ways to circumvent the system, as stated in its creator revenue sharing conditions, that it will ban users from the program if they are discovered to be intentionally inflating the number of views on their articles.
“Only genuine interactions from Premium users will be counted toward your earnings,” according to X’s Premium account.
We earlier reported that X is resuming operations in Brazil following a months-long conflict between the firm and the country’s federal supreme court minister, Alexandre de Moraes.
